Description

This challenging piece was composed in 1993 for Pascal Gallois, and was premiered by him at the 1994 Festival de Kumo in Finland. The music is very lyrical and somewhat pitch-centric, and spans the full range up to Eb5, with an “ossia” that includes an F5. Multiphonics and tongue-slaps are the only extended techniques called for, with suggested fingerings provided. This piece was included in the annual Paris Conservatory Concours of 2001, and was also a required piece for the 2020 Fernand Gillet-Hugo Fox Competition sponsored by the IDRS.
