Description
This piece was composed in 1970 and is pitch-centric and neo-classical. The first movement is full of rhythmic verve, propelled in part by frequent m2 grade-note figures. The slow movement expands on a single three- note motive of repeated notes, and is very expressive. The final movement is a brilliant showcase of 16th-notes grouped into both simple and compound meters. This piece is very challenging, but rewarding, and covers the full range to D5.
