Description
This piece was composed in Stockholm in 2012. It is a single movement pitch-centric work in two parts; the first a somewhat melancholy adagio and the second, based on similar melodic material, is a bouncy allegro reminiscent of a peasant dance. The mournful tune makes a brief reappearance at the end. While the piece does ascend to C5, most of the music lies in the middle and lower registers. This piece is more readily appealing than many of Levitt’s compositions for the bassoon. It is moderately challenging.
