This piece is contained in a collection of Works by Soviet Composers for Solo Bassoon, Installment I, compiled by Valery Popov. It was composed in 1981 and dedicated to A. Klechevskogo, who also edited it. The music is conservatively pitch-centric and often polyphonic; projecting the latter is the chief aspect of this moderately challenging piece. The range is also conservative, ascending only to Bb4.
