This piece was composed in 1997 for James Jeter. The music is pitch-centric, with an emphasis on the lyrical capabilities of the bassoon. It is rhapsodic throughout, and is moderately challenging, mostly due to numerous wide slurs. The music is very tiring, however. The top-most pitch is D5, right at the end, no less.
