Description

This well-known piece was composed in 1969, and is a staple in the unaccompanied repertoire. The music is atonal, the ternary form is easily assimilated, and the technical demands are not only moderately challenging, making this piece a fine introduction to this style. Pitch-bending is required, and the top-most note is D5. It was a required piece for both the 1987 and 1992 Gillet Competitions sponsored by the IDRS, and was also included in the annual Paris Conservatory Concours of 1987.
