Three Inventions. Bryn Mawr, PA: Theodore Presser.

Description

This piece was composed in 1962 for William Scribner. The music is pitch-centric and rather austere. The first piece is a study in contrast of register and dynamics. The second features extension and truncation of a motive, and the third is a challenging toccata-like perpetual motion. The full range is used up to G5, with E5 as an “ossia.”
