Composed in 2011 for Vaclav Vonasek, this challenging and eclectic piece features numerous extended techniques. Glissandi, pitch bending, multiphonics, tremolos, harmonics, flutter tonguing, timbre changes, tongue slaps, quarter tones, and text all coexist in a mixture of alternating lyrical and virtuosic sections over the full range up to E5. While the first three movements are decidedly atonal and avant-garde, the final movement is somewhat pitch-centric, and informed by Baroque polyphony such as in a cello suite by Bach, although with much greater range extremes.
