Description
This piece was written for the composer’s wife in 2014, and first premiered by him in April of that year in Orangeburg, SC. As suggested by the title, this piece is informed by connections, be they obvious or not so. The music is pitch-centric, although this aspect too is often blurry. The music is moderately challenging, and the full range up to Db5 is employed, although the upper register is used sparingly. Timbre changes, the only extended technique called for, are a primary feature of this work, and very clear instructions and fingerings are provided.
