According to bassoonist Jim Schaeffer, this little piece was composed upon “request from Dutch music educators to help stimulate the study of the bassoon in that country.” The music is marginally atonal, very motivic, and moderately easy. Treble clef is used extensively, and the highest pitch is B5.
