This moderately challenging piece mixes atonal and pitch-centric material depicting vignettes of the “black spirit” or ghost of Italian folklore. The piece ascends to written B4. The fourth bagatelle consists totally of kiss tones, tapping on the metal bell of the contra, and pitched “thunks” resulting from key slaps.
