This piece was composed in 2020 for Mark Ortwein, as part of the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive’s 2020 New Music Project, and is an optimistic anticipatory response of sorts to both the COVID-19 pandemic and human rights challenges as humankind emerges from them. The neo-Baroque music is pitch-centric, predominantly lyrical, and moderately easy, but spans the full range up to Bb4.
