Description
The three movements were composed in 1968 in Cairo, Avignon, and Paris, respectively, for Florian Hollard. This is beautifully evocative atonal music. The outer movements are lyrical studies in motivic development while the second is a rapid dance of nearly continuous 16th notes. The music is an expressive tour-de-force, and at the same time is technically demanding. The outer movements require extended high register playing, up to E5.
