“Six Demonic Dances is a character study in mischief,” according to notes that accompany the score. Dedicated to Mark Heckmann, these challenging character studies are pitch-centric and varied. The full range is employed up to D5, as are some timbral alterations and simple multiphonics. No other extended techniques are employed. Much of the music requires a popular funk rock feel.
