Description
This piece was composed in 2012, and dedicated to its commissioner, Mark Gaydon. The title is the Gaelic term for “great music,” referring to highland pipe music. It is a theme and variations, with the variations separated by interludes. The entire range is covered, and some extended techniques (timbre changess, glissandi, and multiphonics) are employed. It was first performed at the ABC Studios in Collinswood, Adelaide on July 20, 2012.
