Description
This piece was composed in 1973 and dedicated to Hans Samuelsson, who gave the first performance on June 28, 1974. The music is atonal and quite avant-garde and makes extensive use of multiphonics determined by the performer. Additional extended techniques include, tongue-slaps, flutter-tonguing, glissandi, singing, singing while playing, air sounds, indeterminacy, and blowing into a trumpet mouthpiece. It is unclear whether the latter is to be affixed to the bassoon or free blowing. The full range is used up to D5, but other wise the music is only moderately challenging. Depending on the choice of multiphonics, this can be a very engaging and effective composition.
