Description
This pitch-centric piece was composed in 2012 in Stockholm. The andante is centered in D minor, as many of Levitt’s slow movements are. The main theme is centered in the low register, and is juxtaposed against a more strident motive that features some of this composer’s highest writing for bassoon, up to Db5. The second movement is a jaunty march that is fun to play, with some challenging technical fireworks in the coda.
