Description
Composed in Stockholm in 2013, this piece is a departure from Levitt’s other works for bassoon. Subtitled “Homage to Rossini,” this music, while still adhering to Levitt’s pitch-centric tonal language, is considerably more flamboyant, and a bit more challenging, over the full range to C#5. While never quoting from Rossini, there are motives that suggest his music, such as rhythmic motives from “The Barber of Seville,” for example.
