Description
This piece, composed in 2010, was commissioned by and dedicated to Mark Gaydon. It was premiered by him that year. The music combines pitch-centric and atonal elements in a variety of styles, with influences as diverse as Berio’s Sequenza XII and funk. While the piece ascends only to Db5, it is very challenging. Numerous extended techniques, including glissandi, multiphonics, multiphonic trills, flutter and multiple tonguing, tremolos, and timbral trills all figure prominently in this music. Circular breathing, while not absolutely necessary, would be very helpful as well.
