Description
The music, composed in 1985, is pitch-centric, ascends to E5, and requires extended techniques, including harmonics, multiphonics, and glissandi. Instructions are provided. A seven-note motive, (perhaps symbolic of Christ’s Seven Last Words?) is featured throughout. It is very prominent in the lyrical outer movements, and fragments can be found in the hard- driving middle movement. The composition is challenging, but is fun to prepare and successful from an audience’s point of view.
