Description
Odyssey was commissioned in 1990 by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for a student competition. It is essentially a theme followed by ten variations and a return to the original theme. The theme itself is a non-serial (but atonal) tone row followed immediately by three variants. Being a theme and variations, there is considerable variety in this music, and being a competition piece, it is moderately challenging. The top-most pitch is C5.
