Description
This piece was commissioned by Charlene Decker, contrabassoonist of the Eugene (OR) Symphony, and was composed in 2003. It is an amusing but worthwhile trifle, interspersing jazz licks, a college or high school fight song of the performer’s choice, and some rock patterns (including the famous riff from the Beatles’ Day Tripper) between phrases of Happy Birthday to You. The range is very conservative, ascending only to written Cb4. It is moderately easy.
