Description
The famous “BACH” motive (Bb, A, C, B untransposed) is developed throughout this atonal piece, albeit in a very avant-garde idiom. Composed in 1978, the piece ascends specifically to D5, but also requests the player’s “Highest note” as well as other extended techniques: tongue slaps, key slaps, flutter tonguing, vibrato manipulations, pitch bending, indeterminacy, and a kiss-tone. Even with all that, the music is only moderately challenging.
